So, next week I turn 40 and this weekend I’m having a whole weekend of birthday party :). I’m making the most of entering a new decade and I’M EXCITED!!! As I turn 40, I feel like I’m finally claiming ‘I am a woman’, rather than the feeling I had during most of my 20s and 30s of being a teenager masquerading as a grown up.
Croissant and Pizza
I usually use my birthday as an excuse to eat my old cooked favourites, like croissant, pizza and all things wheaty, cheesy and baked. This year I feel more grounded in myself than ever, so this weekend I’ve asked my friends to bring raw dishes for my birthday lunch. A number of them haven’t made raw food before, but they are all being really lovely and giving it a go. I can’t wait for them to taste it and see just how good it is!
Coming to Terms with My Quirks
Getting into raw food and cleansing on a deeper level these last 7 years has helped me become more and more accepting of myself, and more at peace with some fundamental aspects of my character that I used to view as ‘bad’: I now enjoy my creativity rather than seeing it as ‘procrastination’; I can relish my desire for true connection with the people in my life, both personal and professional, rather than judging it as ‘too intense’; I can embrace my natural generosity and curiosity rather than thinking I should spend more time on ‘proper work’ activities. For me, life is about coming to a place of peace from where we can explore our beautiful and unique edges with confidence. So I say, “bring on the next 40 years!”.
Today’s video is one of the recipes I’ve asked for at my party because it’s one of my favourites. Try it and you’ll see why! I have a variation of these noodles most weeks, using different veg depending on what I’ve got in the fridge. For the noodles I use a spiraliser (I recommend the Lurch brand, which you can get on amazon for about £30) but you can use a vegetable peeler to make simple ribbon ‘noodles’ instead.
The full ingredients list for this recipe is at the end of the video 🙂
Let’s Hear From You!
What have you enjoyed most about the decade of your life you’re in now? I know there are struggles, but it’s always good to celebrate what we’ve learned – this is the perfect opportunity to take a moment and celebrate who you are becoming. Post your comments below this video!
