Fruit Fusion Porridge with Ginger Cream

This time of year calls for comfort food.  I’m on a cleanse at the moment, one which excludes all grains, and I MISS PORRIDGE!!  I’ve been dreaming of today’s recipe for the last few weeks and am looking forward to introducing oats again so I can indulge my porridge fetish once more.

I find cooked oats really grounding and nourishing, and with fresh fruit and a few superfoods thrown in it takes on a whole new dimension.
I’ve been seeing more and more savoury porridge recipes (it’s a habit of mine to trawl the internet for inspiring recipes when I’m on a cleanse), so savoury porridge is on my list to try next!  If you’ve tried it already I’d love to know what your thoughts are on it πŸ™‚

Food Porn!

I’ve just started Instagramming, seriously!  I’m very visually driven so beautiful photos really get me excited.  I started with an Instagram feed for our travel photos, and now I’m loving the idea of sharing my budding food photography and recipes on Instagram too πŸ™‚   Raw and vegan food porn is my latest calling!

This Week’s Recipe: Fruit Fusion Porridge with Ginger Cream

Fruit Fusion Porridge with Ginger Cream

Give yourself some well-deserved and deliciously healthy autumnal comfort this weekend with today’s recipe.  If you’d rather not cook your oats or have never tried soaked oats before, use the same recipe but simply soak the oats overnight with the turmeric and water.  In the morning top the oats with fruit and your good to go.  You will have a super-creamy and light version instead πŸ™‚

2 handfuls of porridge oats
ΒΌ teaspoon turmeric powder
300ml water

Fruit & Superfoods

Your choice of chopped orange, papaya, banana, fig, dates, mango and blueberries

Bee Pollen (optional)

2 handfuls hulled hemp seeds
2 medjool dates
Β½cm of fresh ginger root
100ml of water

Put the porridge ingredients into a saucepan. Bring to the boil, then turn down to a simmer. Cook for 10 minutes or until your porridge is lovely and creamy.

Put your porridge in a bowl and top with your fresh fruit

Blend the hulled hemp seeds with the dates, ginger and water until smooth and creamy.
Pour over your fruit salad and indulge!
